Frequently Asked Questions

From eye examinations and specialty services to billing inquiries, we aim to make your experience as clear and comfortable as possible. If your question isn’t answered here, please contact our Barrie optometry office for further assistance.

Eye Exams & Appointments

The cost of an eye exam depends on your age, health needs, and the type of testing required.

Our comprehensive exams include advanced imaging and screenings to give a complete picture of your eye health—well beyond a simple sight test.

For current pricing, please call our office at 705-734-5700. If you have vision or extended health insurance, we may be able to bill your provider directly (see Direct Billing below).

In some cases, your optometrist may recommend dilating your pupils to get a clearer view of the retina and optic nerve.
If dilation is needed, your near vision may be blurry and you may be light-sensitive for a few hours afterward—so bring sunglasses, and consider arranging a ride home if you’re unsure.
Please bring your current glasses or contact lenses, a list of any medications you take, and your insurance card (if applicable).
These help us give you the most accurate and personalized care.
Most comprehensive eye exams take 25-30 minutes. If you need additional testing—such as a contact lens fitting, dry-eye assessment, or dilation—you may need another appointment or additional time.
We recommend booking an appointment for all visits—including minor concerns—so we can reserve time for you and keep wait times short.
For urgent care please call to see if we can make arrangements.

Contact Lenses & Eyewear

Most contact lens orders arrive in about 5–7 business days, depending on the brand and prescription availability.

Specialty or custom lenses may take a little longer, but we’ll let you know when you order.

We carry a wide selection of quality sunglass brands such as Ray-Ban, Oakley, Serengeti, Burberry, Wiley X, and more.
Call to book an appointment in the clinic to browse the full collection and try them on.
Absolutely. We can ship your contact lenses directly to your home for convenience. No need to come in just to pick them up.

Insurance and Billing

Yes! We offer direct billing to most major insurance providers that allow us to direct bill. Please bring your insurance details to your appointment.

Coverage varies by plan. Unfortunately, we cannot do predeterminations, so it’s up to each patient to confirm their coverage with their insurer before the visit.

We work with most major vision care insurers. If your plan allows, we can submit the claim for you at the time of your appointment. Just bring your insurance card or policy details with you so we can confirm eligibility.

Union plans have different direct-billing agreements for dental and vision care. At this time, we cannot direct bill to Union due to their policy restrictions, but we’ll provide an itemized receipt so you can submit your claim directly.
